FSS also referred to as adhesive capsulitis is a term for a shoulder disorder that has a gradual onset, and presents symptoms including:
- Lack of shoulder range of motion (less than 1/2 the normal range of motion)
- Night pain and discomfort
- Pain that decreases as stiffness increases
Finally a Treatment That Works!!
Recent studies on chiropractic and Frozen Shoulder indicate that:
- 49 out 50 patients experienced over 50% improvement
- 32% of the patient's symptoms resolved completely
- The majority of patients showed 75%-90% improvement
FSS is a condition occurring in approximately 2-5% of the population. Frozen Shoulder Syndrome is poorly understood due to the nature of its cause. Frozen Shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) is stiffness, pain, and limited range of movement in your shoulder. It may happen after an injury, overuse, from a disease such as diabetes, or a stroke. The tissues around the joint stiffen, scar tissue forms, and shoulder movements become difficult and painful.
There are two different types of FSS:
Primary FSS: Identified when there are no obvious causes or trauma presented upon examination, and is diagnosed purely based on the symptoms.
Secondary FSS: Diagnosed when there is a trauma or condition leading to the symptoms of FSS.
Chiropractic treatment of Frozen Shoulder Syndrome can correct the underlying cause of the disorder by correcting spinal misalignments and by correcting the neuro-mechanical malfunction that occurs in this condition.
FSS patients can achieve pain relief with In Touch Chiropractic. Therapeutic exercises will be given along with chiropractic adjustments to improve the range of motion as well as restore the neural function to the muscles of the shoulder region. Treatments promote the body to function optimally and respond to postural changes so that care received has greater and lasting results.
